FAQ
Are vacuum tubes better than solid state?
This is a controversial topic. Both have their good and bad points.
Vacuum tubes have a better midrange. However, there is some solid state gear that
can compete with the vacuum tubes. There are pros and cons to both.
We feel that we carry the best solid state and vacuum tube gear available.
We welcome you to bring in your existing equipment and compare it to ours.
Because of our years of experience, we can offer the best quality based on price-to-performance.
After working with manufacturers such as Bruce Moore for many years, we understand and know which
equipment is the best value. Some equipment out there is overpriced for what you get these days.
Are there any discounts that you offer?
We offer some discounts on demo equipment and B stock. B stock is new or demo
equipment that has been slightly damaged.
We also have good buys on used equipment, 30 to 50 % off retail in most cases. There
are also some used vintage pieces that sell for more than the current retail price.
Do you work with customers outside the San Francisco Bay Area?
Yes. Outside the Bay Area we provide systems for full home theater.
What types of systems do you design?
The systems we design are base on price-to-performance ratio. We also match a system to your budget and needs.
Our process is to:
- Go through a list of questions, based on your needs and personal taste.
- Design the room layout.
- Setup proper acoustics in the room.
- Calibrate the SPL of the systems.
- Calibrate the picture color levels, brightness, contrast, etc.
What kind of service will I receive after I buy a system?
After you buy a system from us we continue to support you.
- We train you how to use your system. Whether you are an expert or a novice, we will teach you whatever you want to know.
- We take care of you after the sale. Our support is unsurpassed. You can call us up to 2:00 AM PST.
- We follow up on any issues you may have. All of the manufacturers we use are customer oriented, and we have long term relationships with our suppliers.
Do you take trade-ins? What about upgrades?
Yes. Unlike other dealers we give you the retail used price, not the wholesale price. For new equipment, we give you good trade-in value. We also offer upgrades on some equipment at very reasonable cost. Please call for details.
Can any components be wall-mounted?
Yes, depending on the system. Our installation cost for mounting and hiding wires is based
on a rate of $50 to $100 per hour. There are a few types of systems that cannot be wall-mounted.
Do you also sell furniture for my home entertainment room?
Yes. We offer furniture from MTS, located in Oregon. We also sell many types of custom wall units.
Call us and we can evaluate your options for the type of look that you want. By discussing it on the phone
or in person, we get a better feel what you are looking for.
